At a casual meeting of a few Cousins, the 3rd generation of the lineage of fore-father Alfred Ratwatte, an idea was ‘popped’ to have a ‘Get-Together’ of the descendants of Alfred Ratwatte including the extended families. Due to the spontaneous & positive reaction, a Committee was formed immediately, comprising of a member or two of each of the families of the grandchildren(3rd generation) which gave rise to the first ever Alfred Ratwatte Family Get-together in 2008.

In view of the tremendous success of this inaugural Get-together, it was decided to make it an annual feature. But, in order to widen the scope of activity beyond fellowship, it was decided to form a Trust, so that the traditions set, could be carried down through the generations. Thus the ‘Alfred Ratwatte Family Trust’ was legally formed & incorporated on 11th December 2008.

In compiling the names of the members of the ‘Family’, it was found that there were many now domiciled outside our Motherland with indications of more being added, where the new born would be alien to their ‘roots’. Therefore, the Trustees decided to have a Family Web-site, taking into account the accessibility created through the advancement in information technology.

This is now a reality and browsing this site, one could be in touch, learn of their proud ancestral heritage and also the developments & activities of the ‘Family’ that has a very proud history which undoubtedly would be taken forward through the generations.
