As a progression to the inheritance of a rich heritage and proud history, the Family decided to found a Family Trust. The objects were essentially to be:

i ) To promote the advancement and progress of the direct descendants of Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Ratwatte,
ii ) To support the Family in times of crises such as serious illness and death,
iii ) To support the Family in the form of scholarships in keeping with set guide lines,
iv ) To protect and maintain the Family "burial ground" at Gunnepana, and
v )Raise funds in support of the above objects and for any other reasons as deemed necessary by the Trust.

In accordance with this decision, a Trust, styled “Alfred Ratwatte Family Trust” was incorporated, with a Deed of Trust legally executed on November 22nd 2008, and its registration with the relevant Government authority undertaken on December 11th 2008. The First Trusties are the grand children of Mr.& Mrs. Alfred Ratwatte, one representing each of the families, and thereby being the signatories to the Trust Deed.

NB. Chitra Dassanayake's Family is not represented as both her children are abroad. She is kept informed of all activities via copies of approved 'Minutes'.

A trust Fund to support the activities & objectives of the Trust has been established with the generosity of the family members, in line with the objects and is operated through banking accounts

The Trust meets once a quarter to decide on issues relating to the Family, its progress, welfare and harmony. The 'Minutes' of such meetings is duly recorded and formally adopted at successive meetings in compliance with the Deed of Trust.
